Doctor Velvet plays retro rockin’ blues, boogie, swing and swamp from the 60s to 80s greats. Artists include Jimmie Hendrix, Stevie Rae Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, ZZ Top, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Deep Purple, Queen, Bad Company, Creedence, Allman Brothers, Chris Rea and the list goes on.
Guitarist and lead vocals Garry Horan says ‘we see ourselves as a blues band but incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles’. Garry’s retro -70s bluesy guitar is supported by a tight side-order of bass and drums from Drew (thump room) and drums from Shane (kick-ass room).
The band’s line-up are very stage experienced having played in numerous bands around Perth including Bad Penny, Bluetongue, Dangerous Goods, GearJammer, Kerosene Lane, Ross River and the Fevers, Swamp Donkey, and The Jackie Moon Trio.
Doctor Velvet’s music is a raw and honest brand of rockin’ blues with boogie, swing and swamp tones, 'killer' vibe, and no harsh volumes.
